PACA riders love to ride and we understand that in order to stay safe and improve relations with local drivers, we need to follow the rules of the road! Part of what we want to accomplish is to show everyone that cyclists belong on the road and know how to use the road responsibly. Additionally, we want all of our riders to be safe, so we follow these simple rules:

  • ALWAYS wear a helmet!!  Anyone who comes to a group ride without a helmet will not be permitted to ride with the group.
  • Follow all traffic laws.  The laws are the same for us as they are for cars … you CAN get a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign, speeding (can’t say this happens too often ), or other traffic violations.
  • Call out hazards in the road (we will educate our riders about these).
  • Never ride 3-abreast.
  • Always stop when another rider in the group has a mechanical or medical need to stop.
  • Bring ID, copy of Insurance Card and be sure to keep PACA up to date on your emergency contact information.  A great purchase for any rider is a RoadID.  It costs next to nothing and makes it much easier for anyone you are riding with to know whom to contact in the event of an emergency.
